One-Eyed Jack

One-Eyed Jack was the name they gave
When he got in a brawl at the dawn of day
His rival cut him clean through his eye
Through the wind you could hear Jack's cry
Jack shot twice but couldn't see
His enemy snuck off through the trees
Left behind was a deck of cards
And poker chips stacked in a jar
Jack let the man get away
He swore he'd get revenge someday

Chorus:
One-Eyed Jack
Shuffle your cards
Make sure you gamble with the best there are
Rollin' in high when you go to play
So you come out lucky with a ten-fold pay

Jack went home to mend his wounds
Next day he was in the saloons
To the poker tables he did go
Plenty of money he did throw
Searchin' for the man that took his eye
Searchin for the man that had to die
So with all the bums and drunks he played
With high-class men that relaxed all day
And bet their families for fun and pride
But never for the horses they did ride

Jack became a legend of his time
Quick to take your money or take your life
And you could only play him if you bet in gold
Or had some information that could be told
About the man from his tradgic past
Who took his eye with an evil slash
Gamblin' great with all the best
He bet his life all over the west
But he always had a scrowl on his face
Cause that sweet revenge he could still taste

One day Jack gambled with a boy
Who took an Ace and stole a coin
Jack caught on, grabbed his arm
Threw the boy outside the bar
Dirt flung up from the ground to the sky
Jack got hot and grabbed his knife
He swung at the boy with an evil dive
He stabbed that boy right in his eye
Jack realized his search was done
His enemy was who he'd become
All that was left was sweet revenge
That day you could hear the gunshot through the wind
